Travel Day to Bavaria

Today was mostly a travel day as we left the Lauterbrunnen valley in Switzerland and traveled by train to Fussen, Germany. 7 1/2 hrs on 5 different trains! And we got behind because we had to take a different route because of an accident on the tracks. We thought we would miss our connecting train but we ended up making it.
Now we are in the small town next to King Ludwig's famous castles. One of them is Neuschwanstein, the castle that inspired Walt Disneys Cinderella castle. Tomorrow we will tour both castles and then head to Munich by train.
The most exciting thing that happened today was running into friends from Phoenix here in this tiny town halfway around the world! Danelle and I teach ArtMasterpiece in Maya's (and her son Lukes) class, and her husband Sean works at the same Intel location as Ruben, although in a different department so they didn't know each other. They are on his sabbatical like we're on Rubens. We knew they were in Europe too but neither of us realized each other was in this town today. Fun surprise! We had a great chat about the things we've seen and done, and about all the crazy experiences you have as travelers in such different cultures from your own. It was very fun and meaningful to see a friend here!
We did have a great German dinner as well. After the carb heavy meals in France and Switzerland were happy to have some meat! And a Bavarian Apple Strudel and Nutella Crepe to finish of course!
